Last Saturday the Wednesfield foxes raced at Southampton in the National round 2 of the BYJL , there were eleven riders from under 8s through to the under 17s and not forgetting Georgia Burt in the Junior Girls category.
First as always were the under 8s with Corey Burt and Boyd Haines continuing their battle for the foxes top spot but on a dry and dusty track both riders found their way to the A finals blocked so it was a C final for Cory and a B final for Boyd. Both riders finished second in their finals and earned valuable points for the club so it was a good start for the Foxes. Boyd now currently sits in fourth place nationally and Corey in eighth place nationally with two rounds to go.Charlotte Parfitt was our lone rider in the under 10s and with her mentor Georgia Burt in the pits giving her valuable advice Charlotte again showed how far she has come in a short period of time and is now comfortably racing in the BYJL, again Charlotte earned the Foxes club points , well done Charlotte.
In the Under 12s the foxes had Megan Burt and Todd Rowley who were racing a very good set of under 12 riders but Todd has to feel very proud of his performance with C final place and while challenging for a first place position fell heavily on the second bend and tried to carry on but had given his all , a very spirited performance by Todd, Megan Burt showed that practice makes perfect and her extra practice sessions are starting to pay off with a classy first place in the D final .Todd and Megan sit in thirteenth and fourteenth respectively in the national rounds.
Tyler Bould who is the foxes only under 14 rider again raced in a very competitive line up with a place in the B final well earned, Tyler finished in second . Tyler sits in sixth place nationally.
Georgia Burt represented the foxes in the Junior Girls round and grabbed a well-earned B final place, G showed everyone watching the pass of the day with a fantastic inside pass on Exeter’s speedy Kara Lomas that had the applause of all the watching crowd, Georgia now sits in sixth place in the national rounds.
Finally it was the under 17s round with no shortage of foxes on show. It has to be said that the midlands riders certainly had the bit between their teeth with two draws being done before the racing could start, with all four riders earning final places. Adam Tipton gained a C final place and his first victory in the heats showing perseverance does pay off. Haydn Rowley who had three heat wins and an exclusion while having to accept the exclusion cost him an A final place didn’t let this affect him and comfortably won the B final for the Foxes. Brandon Whetton and Carl Parfitt fresh from representing England and Wales in the home internationals showed the crowd why they are the form riders of the season so far and both raced into a final places. As always with Carl he will never give in or let the riders win without earning it and so everyone knew with Carl in a final Brandon and the two other Poole riders would have to work hard to stop him, The racing was fast and aggressive with Carls last throw of the dice to challenge the lead in the race ending with a crash on the last lap and it was a hard earned victory for Brandon Whetton to maintain two national rounds out of two and well-earned points for the Foxes. Well done to all our foxes who again represented Wednesfield with great pride and passion. The club championship positions are shown below with Poole leading and Wednesfield Foxes in second place nationally.
