Birmingham Monarchs came to wednesfield on Sunday. in what was always going to be a close and hard fought fixture, both teams did not fail to produce.
first up was the division 3 teams and the youngsters, again there was some great racing from both teams and it was great to see the future of both clubs so strong. Birmingham won this match 80 to 70. the div 2 match was just as exciting with some great racing from both teams. both of the Winwoods for Birmingham looked strong and are developing nicely which i expect the welsh manager is pleased to see. And for wednesfield there were great performances from Adam,Georgia,Alex and Ellis all stepping up. Wednesfield came out stronger and led all the way finishing winners 86-63. The division 1 match was a pearler. wednesfield won the first match then a draw then birmingham won the third then a series of draws then birmingham got the advantage in 2 matches putting the in front 5 points with 5 races to go. wednesfield dug deep and only drew 1 of the last 5 to take the match 93-85. a great spectacle to watch for everyone. well done to all the riders. Wednesfield went to Coventry today for a midland league match Division 1,2 and 3.
The sun was shining and the track had been well prepared. The first match division 3 saw the young riders from both clubs come out to show what we can expect to see in the future. Some great battles and loads of potential shown from these young people, the future of both clubs looks promising from today's performance. Coventry won the match 84 -66. The first division match was a different affair, Coventry had a few riders missing but still fielded a good squad but Wednesfield had come fully tooled up. although Coventry battled hard they were up against it from the start and Wednesfield came out comfortable winners 109-69. The division 2 match was a lot closer going one way then the other with riders putting it in everywhere, again some very good up and coming youngsters were on display from both teams, but wednesfield came out winners 75-74. A great afternoon of racing with a good crowd to watch as well. Overall winner cycle-speedway. |
