First up was all the respects to all the helping hands that work behind the scenes helping to set up but also serving cups of tea throughout match days and those cold training nights with gifts of flowers being given to kitchen helpers Kelly and Mrs Wells, to Mrs Burt for all the help on match days, training nights and on our social media pages a small gift was also given to Laura as a huge thank you for pits marshalling throughout the year on match days. Gifts of chocolates and smelly sets were given to the Burt sisters and a bag of chocolates for Corey to for all the jobs that they do around the track. After waiting all season for a Wednesfield Aces sweatshirt Harry was presented one for all his hard work in the kitchen. Huge well done to you all, your help is very much appreciated the club wouldn't be run the same without you all...
Next up was the presentations for those who had been given awards from the Wolverhampton Community Excellence Awards to which the club received 5 awards. A huge thanks must go out to Mr Tipton who rushed up to be there to collect the awards for the club very last minute. The awards were presented on the Wolverhampton awards night by the Deputy Mayor and then on our presentation evening by our club secretary. The awards included:
55 years of Community Excellence to Wednesfield Aces Cycle Speedway Club awarded to Mr Bodley.
The Community Volunteering Award awarded to our club coaches Steve, Martin and Chris.
Urban Community/ Wednesfield In Bloom Award awarded to Wayne Tipton for his great work on the Wednesfield Memorial Garden.
Community Excellence Volunteering Award and being part of the British Cycling Young Volunteer Award to Georgia Burt.
A Walk of Stars plaque for Cycle Speedway World Champion Mr Roger Ellis. A star with his name on will be being laid in Ashmore Park.
Moving onto the Tuesday kids award every Tuesday rider was give a trophy for all their hard work and participation throughout the year. So well done to all of you guys and girls!
The awards from the Club Championships that was held at the end of our race season were given out next.
In the under 8's category: 1st Kylan, 2nd Jacob, 3rd Amber
Under 10's category: 1st Joban, Joint 2nd/3rd Robyn and Finley.S
Under 12's category: 1st Corey, 2nd Brandon, 3rd Eve
Juniors category: 1st Ellis, 2nd Nat, 3rd Megan
Seniors category: 1st Chris, 2nd Tom, 3rd Brandon
Vets category: 1st Phil, 2nd Mick, 3rd Mr "Bonky" Banks
The next set of awards was the team mangers awards:
Division 3 rider of the year went to Jacob for saving the team at Coventry jumping into the team last minute and also showing the best sportsmanship, shouting for his team mates in and outside of the pits.
Division 2 rider of the year went to Ellis chosen by manager Harry.
Division 1 rider of the year went to Chris chosen by manager Wayne Aris.
Most improved rider for 2019 went to Ellis for all his achievements of this year becoming the regional and national British Youth and Junior Champion which is no easy task in the U14's Category.
Riders rider of the year went to Tom who again has improved so much over the season as well as showing great sportsmanship.
Volunteer of the Year award went to Georgia for all the work she has done around the track and on social media along side her mom but also for completing her British cycling Awards throughout this season.
The final set of awards went out to the Division one side after again winning the Midland League under manager Wayne's leadership. Trophies for this accomplishment went out to:
Jordan, Tyler, Tom, CJ, Owen, Matt, Scott, Lee and Brandon.
With the presentations over it was time for food and a raffle a huge thanks for all who brought tickets and donated things for the raffle then it was time for Georgia to teach all the kids how to dance on the dance floor for the rest of the night!
