Over the last three years these events have raised thousands of pounds for charity and this year it's the turn of Diabetes UK to benefit from the night's proceedings.
The event is all based around fun but the competitive nature of some riders doesn't take long to show - the format of racing is set to balance out the field giving an advantage to the less fit and competitive whilst penalising the heat winners. This has worked well and is testament to the overall winners not always being the most experienced cyclist or fittest competitor.
The rules for this are quite simple - the rider must not be a competitive cycle speedway rider - getting on track and helping out a team during the season is allowed but regular speedway riders will not be allowed to compete. Each rider is required to raise a minimum £50.00 each for charity by way of sponsorship or donations and most importantly riders must bring their friends, family, anybody they know as this is a spectacle not to be missed. This year we have slightly changed the rules allowing the previous years winner to defend their title, so all eyes on Graham Kemp.
For you to show your support please come along to The Ashmore Park Raceway- home of Wednesfield Aces Cycle Speedway, Griffiths Drive, WV11 2JW - situated on the bottom park behind the shops. And even if you can';t make it along to the event itself, donations to Diabetes UK are warmly welcomed online: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wednesfield-aces
