Sunday training session....

2/9/2019

🖤♣️
Due to the cancellation of the Midland League match a Sunday training session went ahead with both the younger riders of the club and the older. To begin the training session the younger members of the club took to the track under the commands of “Coach” Georgia and Mr Roger Ellis helping them to gate and corner around the track. To finish they each took part in an individual 3 lap Dash which got timed.   “I would like to say a big well done to Joban, Thomas and Kylan who improved so much in the space of just over an hour on their bends, sprints down the straight and gating. It was really nice to see them with all their improvements being put together in their timed laps as shown through their great results. Well done all” - Georgia
Next up was the Juniors and Seniors who completed a series of activities throughout their training session. Thanks to CJ for leading that session.
Well done everyone today some great effort was put it throughout the day. 🖤♣️
Also big thanks to Harry for mowing the grass for us top job mate!🧡🖤♣️

Message from Mr Phil Bateman....

I just want to say that I think the Wednesfeld Aces have played a really super role in the run up to the Wednesfield in Bloom bid. The opening of your Memorial Garden was special!
It looks great, it fitted the project that the community were involved in here on Ashmore Park. The fact that the Club spotted the synergie was masterful. I was as was my fellow Councillors very proud to be invited to your opening ceremony.
We were also extremely pleased to see The Club supporting #TheStuff4Steph Fun Day Saturday 6th July. Again the Club playing a part within the community. Tonight I hope that the new contacts you made at that event enjoy their time with you at the training. Wednesfield Aces is a great sporting club and I Mary and Rita wish you well going forward!

Wednesfield Aces Cycle Speedway Club to unveil a remembrance Garden

Wednesfield Aces have always valued their Club members but sadly over the years we have lost many of them, their names are recorded in the Clubhouse along with the rest of the history of the Club, but now we have gone one step further in developing a “Remembrance Garden” this consists of a memorial bench and flower garden along with a centre piece flagpole unveiling an historic flag in colours dating back to when the club was founded in 1962.

The garden will be located in a quiet corner of the track enclosure, our lost member’s names have been engraved on a plaque and placed in this area. It will be a place of memories and reflection and a chance to remember some wonderful people.

We are sure the cycle speedway community will celebrate these Club stalwarts, and we are hoping that the local vicar will come and dedicate and bless this area and of course we want to welcome relatives to relive memories of the people we are honouring. Over sixty relatives have confirmed attendance on Sunday so we are sure it will be an occasion for all to share memories of their loved ones.

The garden also coincides with the Wednesfield Britain in Bloom campaign,  the club volunteers have been busy developing the garden to be part of the Ashmore Park community entry.

The dedication of the Remembrance Garden will be on Sunday 30th June at 12 midday, the Club is racing Poole on that day in the cross over league and the cycle speedway racing will start at 2 pm.

DASH TROPHIES 2019 & WED VS BIRMINGHAM

Weekly Round Up
Last Saturday at Wednesfield we held the Midlands Grand Prix sponsored by Dash Trophies and hosted by Mr Dash Trophies himself, Mr Steve Mullinder.
The starting line ups for both the Junior and Senior events held a wealth of talent so a good days racing was expected. Up first were the juniors with the likes of the Brinkoff brothers, Tyler and Lewis, Fraser Garnett, Coventry’s Cameron Gill & Tom, Horspath’s Will Jeffery plus Wednesfield’s own Tyler Bould and Owen Wells within the field the results were going to be tight. After some very tough, competitive, physical racing the winner of the 2019 series Grand Prix all came down to a run off between Ipswich’s Lewis Brinkoff and Poole’s Fraser Garnett. After 4 hard going laps Fraser took the win meaning Lewis finished in second followed by Horspath’s Will Jeffery taking the third spot.
Next up were the seniors which was also predicted to be a well fought out affair with last years winner Josh Brooke making an appearance alongside Britain’s number two and three Ben Mould and Paul Heard fulfilled the line-up along with ever improving senior riders such as A&T’s Reece Pollit and Aces Tom Bewick; who did not shy away from the challenge. Some great racing was witnessed with numerous tape exclusions, crashes, many spectacular passes and in some respects some acrobatics this again resulted in Josh Brooke to take away the “newly cleaned!” Midlands Grand Prix trophy. Followed by Lukas Nowacki taking the second place with 17 points but it was the third spot which resulted in a three-way run off between Zac Payne, Paul Heard and Ben Mould with Zac coming out on top to complete the podium positions.

The following day began the Midlands League races for the Aces as they took on rivals Birmingham. Division 3 saw new manager Georgia lead the foxes through the match to only loose by one point in one of the final heats after leading the whole match. Next up was Division one which was seen to be one of the biggest challenges for the aces for this season. After some very eventful, competitive racing the aces took the win 4 points clear of the monarchs. To finish a weekend full of racing on the Ashmore race way Aces division two side battled against the monarchs to finish 73(-7) to Birmingham’s 76 points well done all!
This weekend we will see Wednesfield vs Coventry in a Midland League match on Sunday 17th starting with Division 3 at 1pm. Can all riders please be there for 12 to help set up!
