The events of yesterday went something like this...
First up the Vets over 40's wearing the Aces shirts Lee Ashman finished on 7 points and Craig Guy finished on 11!
Next up was Corey in the Under 16's boys final who managed to be there to pick up points where other riders made some mistakes this included beating the winner of the event Noah Woodhouse and Poole's Kenzie Bennett. Corey finished on 9 points great achievement for Corey.
Next up was the women's event where Megan and Georgia Burt took to the track. Megan after 2 rides unfortunately had to withdraw from the event due to injury. Georgia changing bikes half way through the event went on to score 8 points! Well done girls!
On behalf of Wednesfield we would also like to wish Honey Whitehead of Leicester a speedy recovery after breaking her other arm after a fall yesterday at Birmingham!
Last up was the Open event unfortunately after the run off with A&T's Reece Pollitt off the inside gates Chris Jewkes ended up being first reserve but after Gavin Wheeler pulled out of the match with his 2 remaining gate ones meaning to on the trot Chris filled in for the one of them but then pulled out which allowed Ipswich's James Porter the second reserve to gain experience riding in an open final.
The racing was very close amongst all the categories making the whole day very tense and exciting. Huge well done to Birmingham Monarchs who staged the blue ribbon day the day was a huge success. Hats off to all our other fellow Midlands clubs who helped host what has been a great weekend of racing. The Annual British Championships will be held again next year but up in the Northern Region!
