At always the days starts with the Under 8 with Corey Burt and Boyd Haines wearing the foxes shirts in the first race , a fantastic start for Corey winning his first two races showing the rest of the field why he’s Midlands champion and gaining points to earn his place in the A final later . Boyd had a slower start to the day with second and third places and eventually getting his B final spot where he finished in fourth place , Corey up against previous Grand Prix winner Scott Rowles from Poole and also had to settle for 4th Place in the A final , both riders earning valuable club points for Wednesfield.
In the under 10s it was Charlotte Parfitt carrying the foxes colours and with a strong field of 24 riders she just missed out on a final spot , well done to Charlotte for completing all her races and again earning championship points for the Foxes.
In the under 12s it was Megan Burt who raced well to earn a D final place and deserved her first win of the afternoon and taking top spot in her D final.
In the under 14s Tyler Bould is without doubt up against a very strong field of cycle speedway riders and with Stockport cycle speedway club showing they are ready to step up for many season to come with some very good riders. Tyler had to work hard for his fourth place in the B final.
Last up were the Junior boys and Girls with Georgia Burt again racing in a top field of girl riders, twice having to race the runaway Grand Prix leader Macey Schmidt to her place in the B final where Georgia finish second and again holding her place in the top four of the Midlands riders.
In the junior Boys racing Wednesfield had Great Britain and the new European Champion Brandon Whetton , Great Britain & Wales Captain Carl Parfitt along with Wednesfield clubman of the year Adam Tipton. Adam raced well earing a place in the C final where he had his best BYJL finish of the year so far finishing in second place.
Carl raced to a maximum 16 points and top spot on the grid in the A final beating Brandon along the way, it also has to be said at this point the Wednesfield club passes on its best wished to Ciaran Collins who sustained an nasty arm injury in the heats, hopefully Ciaran will be on the mend soon. Brandon dropped one point in the heats and also settled for the A final. Brandon had to win the final to again be crowned BYJL champion for a record fourth time in four years but knew that Carl would also have a say in the result. A cracking race between Carl and Brandon with Carl eventually racing away as the BYJL round 3 national champion and Brandon finishing second place. It’s now on to Great Blackenham in a few weeks’ time for Brandon who only has to race into any one of the four finals to be crowned BYJL champion for 2016.
Finally well done to all the Wednesfield Foxes riders who competed on Saturday and earning Wednesfield a top three finish.
Pictures below show the Junior Girls and Boys riders with their medals and Carl Parfitt and Brandon Whetton top three in the junior final.
