Last Tuesday, we recognise and remember the generous donations made in memory of Wednesfield Aces legend, Mick Aris.
In keeping with Mick's wishes, his funeral was a simple and heartfelt celebration of his life, organised by his family and friends. It included a gathering at his beloved Wednesfield Aces Club, a final lap of the track he loved so much, and then his final journey to his resting place.
Thanks to your incredible generosity, a total of £2,415 was raised in Mick's memory. This will be shared equally between two causes that meant so much to him.
Half of the donations will go to Wednesfield Aces Club, which was an integral part of Mick's life. The club gave him the opportunity to see the world, make lifelong friends, and create countless memories through the sport he loved.
The remaining half will be donated to Ward C4 at Russell's Hall Hospital, where Mick received treatment. During his time there, he witnessed first-hand the outstanding care, compassion and dedication shown by the incredible staff who work tirelessly for our NHS every day.
