Sunday Georgia and Megan headed over to Newport to race and manage the Midlands Women's team. From the four rides she rode in the team match G scored 11 points including 3 second place finishes. Megan was able to manage the team to finish just a point behind the winners to finish in 2nd place on the day but the Midlands team still holds onto the series lead with just one round to go!
Back at home Ashmore Park hosted the FlexiLeague — and it did exactly what it was designed for: competitive racing in a relaxed, no-pressure format. Riders simply turn up, enjoy five heats, and get that all-important Sunday racing fix.
Despite plenty of other meetings taking place elsewhere, the format shone, with 19 riders taking part — including a very welcome five from East Park. That’s a big boost for the club’s revival, and long may it continue!
The afternoon was a pleasure from start to finish, with every rider playing their part. The track and surroundings looked fantastic, thanks to the hard work of Simon “Spock” Oakley, whose preparation made Ashmore Park a brilliant stage for the action.
FlexiLeague gives any rider the chance to get on track — perfect for East Park and for Birmingham riders not involved in National League fixtures.
Today, there was one clear winner: Cycle Speedway. Many congratulations to all our riders who took part!
